"Fall Evening Vista" by Chris Willey was selected as the winning entry for the commemorative 2012 limited edition Symphony in the Flint Hills art print. Signed and numbered by the artist, limited to 100 prints. Print is 18" x 14".

Dr. Patricia McDonnell, Juror:

“Standing on the bare ground, my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eyeball,” wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson to express the euphoria he experienced in nature. Moments of poignant emotion occur easily in the Flint Hills, as the landscape is so arresting. Artist C. Willey finds rich creative expression for just this kind of encounter in Fall Evening Vista. The waning light in saturated hues casts a glow across the subtle arch of the horizon. We imagine the philosopher’s “infinite space” in this finely rendered scene and its eloquence that is pure Kansas Flint Hills.

Congratulations to all of the other artists chosen to represent the 2012 Prairie Art Exhibit and Auction. The following pieces will be on display and for sale through a silent auction at this year's event.
