Returning for the 2008 celebration, the Kansas City Symphony will fill the Flint Hills with music that evokes the Spirit of the American Prairie. The concert will include selections from Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, op. 68, "Pastoral", Copland's The Tender Land, and John Williams' Overture to The Cowboys. Short readings of prairie literature will reflect the history, geography, and romance of the landscape. The program will run approximately one hour and fifty minutes, which includes 90 minutes of music and a 20 minute intermission.
